Announcing Moblin v2 Core Alpha Release

- Moblin is a Linux desktop initiative created by Intel to target specific platforms.

- Moblin originally was designed to target Intel MID devices, but with Moblin 2 they are changing the focus to more 'netbook'-style devices.

- Moblin v1 was based on Ubuntu, however V2 has migrated to Fedora as it's base.

Moblin is designed to take the Gnome-Mobile initiative and extend it further. Introducing new elements like the Clutter toolkit, which takes gnome objects and allows people to manage applications and gui elements using a simplified OpenGL-based interface with scenegraph-based management system. And taking the 'internet connected' gnome concept further.

Basically taking cutting edge 'Gnome 3.0' stuff, standardizing it, and creating a custom Fedora install that then can be made further custom by OEMs for their netbooks. Sort of like a 'Reference' Gnome environment, like Intel makes reference boards that people can then take and make more consumer oriented devices out of.
