CrunchBang is a Speedy, Dark-Themed Linux Desktop (LifeHacker)

LifeHacker has a screenshot tour of CrunchBang Linux. "CrunchBang seems to Just Work on the two systems I tested it on, and it looks like a great fit for an on-the-go desktop for your thumb drive, or replacement for a slow-moving Linux boot."

CrunchBang is Amazing!

Once you get past the dark theme (quite easy to replace with something more vanilla), CrunchBang is quite amazing. It's Ubuntu based so it's really easy to get security updates and add new packages, yet its basic setup is so lightweight that it runs really well in a VM with 200MB RAM. It also comes with Java and Flash pre-installed, and it's quite easy to set up OpenBox and LXDE's LXPanel so that it looks a little bit like Windows (Start type menu at bottom left, etc) - I'm intending this to run on an old laptop as a "guest PC" for visitors who don't know Linux at all.

Really impressive, kudos to the developers and the friendly and helpful community!
