The gspca drivers have been merged

A lot of code has found its way into the mainline during the 2.6.27 merge window. One of the more notable, user-visible changes is the long-awaited merging of the gspca family of video drivers. These drivers support a large number of video devices; as of 2.6.27, Linux will support most of the webcam devices available on the market.

The gspca drivers have been merged

I use several different webcams for work and personal projects, including some that use gspca, so this is really nice to hear.

I was also happy to see the UVC stuff for newer cams merged into mainline in 2.6.26.

I also use a few cams that use the OV51x drivers (http://alpha.dyndns.org/ov511/, for which here is a an older version (1.64) in mainline, but the "Experimental" 2.xx series seems to have stagnated, and is still not in mainline, unfortunately.
