Rockbox has been running on this series of devices for many months. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the reverse-engineering done by Daniel Stenberg and the rest of the Rockbox team was instrumental in getting these Linux ports off the ground.

Well they do say that they require the rockbox bootloader to get Linux running on these
things.
