"Practical Unix & Internet Security, 3rd Edition" Released by O'Reilly

I bought this book in 1997, just after I was rooted, then forgot about it.. I just finished reading it recently. I didn't read it complete (I can set permissions), but covered most of it, because I took a recent interest in UNIX Security. I've used Linux since about 1995/1996.

It covers everything from setting permissions, to explaining how to get root on a UNIX system. My favorite example is the sysadmin who had "." as the first directory in his PATH. :)

I cannot read books by people who consider themselves superior because of the knowledge they have gained (worse yet are authors who belittle their readers). These guys have none of this hubris, and I find the the book to be readable, and the authors incredibly knowledgeable.
