I think this is a wonderful idea, because as it is I have to tell my Atheros cards that I'm in Uzbekistan to get to use the frequencies that I'm allowed to use according to the local laws.

I'm not calling Sam Leffler lazy or anything, after all, Denmark is a pretty small place and our laws are not written in english, so it's understandable that he's not up on the latest developments, but it's incredibly annoying to have hardware that's capable of doing what you want to do, but refuses because it thinks that it knows more about the law than you do.

Having a radio regulations framework and getting driver authors to use it would be absolutely fantastic.
