HIG Hunting Season Now Open (KDE.News) [LWN.net]

KDE.News has announced the HIG Hunting Season. "The HIG Hunting Season is an experiment to include the community into the search for obvious infringements of the KDE Human Interface Guidelines. As those are not fully finished yet, the HCI working group is currently preparing HIG checklists that help to uncover small potatoes that disturb a seamless use experience, such as inconsistencies among applications, incomplete keyboard access, missing feedback, or overloaded configuration dialogs, toolbars or menus. In short: We are asking the community to report user interface and interaction issues that can be stated like bugs."

Just what is meant by the phrase "overloaded configuration dialogs"
Have the freakin gnomeites gotten into KDE Leave the configs alone the more configurable the better if poeple want to NOT be able to config stuff then theres 2 choices gnome or windBloZe

I would venture a guess that "overloaded configuration dialogues" refers not to an overabundance of configuration options, but an overabundance of configuration options visible all at once in the same dialogue.

often it's a matter of the "wrong" widgets selected, laid out in a poor
manner or odd choices faced upon a user (e.g not folding implied defaults
into explicit options).

during the kde3 cycle we actually reworked quite a few of these
dialogs and came up with much nicer and more usable layouts without
sacrificing or losing any of the features.

the idea is not to become featureless, but to become more beautiful and
pleasant in addition to being featureful.

thats alright then .

I am having to use gnome at the moment KDE has lost it's way kdeinit problem and this gnome is driving me bannanas just wish my torrent of opensuse 10.3 Alpha 3 would hurry up ..
