Local kernel debugging on GNU/Linux

At Fosdem 2007 Jim Blandy showed an impressive hack to debug the linux kernel on a running system using dynamic tracepoints set by using kprobes (video, slides, project page). Very impressive seeing emacs and gdb running on the same machine and kernel being debugged.
