Irish accent?

The rest of the English spelling rule is "... and when pronounced 'a', as in 'neighbor' and 'weigh'." But, when you pronounce "feisty" like "faysty", it sounds kind of Irish... Perhaps *that* is the source of this part of the Irish accent!! ;o)
