ActiveState Announces Tcl ActiveAward Winner
Presented at 13th Annual Tcl/Tk Conference
ActiveState Software Inc., the leading provider of tools and services for
dynamic languages, today announced Daniel Steffen as the winner of the 2006
ActiveAward for Tcl, presented at the 13th Annual Tcl/Tk Conference in
Naperville, IL.
Daniel is a postgrad research student at Macquarie University in Australia
and an invaluable member of the Tcl community. As maintainer of the original
TclTkAqua distribution, he beat Mac OS X build issues into submission as it
was extended to support the Intel architecture and Universal builds. In
addition, he has been key to ensuring a smoother native platform experience
for Mac OS X users, as well as consistently assisting users in their
transition to or increasing usage of Tcl/Tk on Mac OS X.
The ActiveAwards are held annually to honor members of the open source
community who actively contribute to dynamic languages, and display
excellence in their programming efforts. Winners are chosen by ActiveState's
team of core language developers, and presented throughout the year at
conferences targeting ActiveState's key technologies: Perl, PHP, Python,
Ruby, and Tcl.
