Jon, in the future it would be great for these types of documents if you could link to the canonical and/or discussion list for these types of things- I assume this went to lkml or some such, and it would be great to follow the responses to it in context. If it did just come via personal email to you, and there is no such public context and no location for public discussion other than lwn, then the article should also state as much. Thanks...

The position statement came straight to me. Things have since been posted to linux-kernel; here's links for the poll results and the position statement. There's almost no discussion to see there so far, however.
