FossExchange to create open-source banner exchange program

The site's primary purpose is creating a free advertising network among
open source oriented websites. "FossExchange.com was created to fill the
void, since no other open source banner exchange system exists", says
FossExchange.com and Fossystems.com creator Ronnie Whisler. "We wanted to
build an advertising exchange that was targeted specifically at the open
source market."

FossExchange.com requires a 468 x 60 pixel GIF image as the banner ad and
a web page. The web page must be open source oriented to be accepted into
the network. It is free to join the exchange and the advertiser will be
given an HTML code to insert into the web page. Advertisers also have the
option of purchasing ad impressions.

FossExchange.com offers more exposure than most other banner exchanges by
having a 1:1 ratio rather than the standard 2:1 ratio with other banner
exchanges. Which means that for every ad displayed, that member gets their
ad displayed on another website in the network. "By creating this open
source specific network, it guarantees that all traffic will be open
source friendly and will benefit the community", says Whisler.
