That's nice. However, the JavaFAQ on the Fedora Project wiki <http://www.fedoraproject.org/wiki/JavaFAQ> says of gcjwebplugin:

"Not audited for security yet. Do not use on a machine unless you don't mind it getting rootkitted!"

Do the Fedora developers plan to audit it before the release, or remove it, or ship Fedora with potential large security holes?

They can just edit those nasty sounding comments and call it good.

The wiki page was a bit outdated. The applet in the FC6 development tree has a whitelist feature.
