I appreciate Ubuntu *real* core team for doing so many things just right but I don't recognize them as a self-titled "humanic" distro: there's *way* too many hype and spam, and recently it started to seem like just another project which decided to grab more than a share of community support with freebies and declared friendliness but that friendliness and conduct *does* have a bit unexpected early limits, at least I've already experienced them.

So, while they're worth helping with many good things, it's better to keep in mind that they're way not perfect, even if some might claim that.

Just a reality sync.

I did not understand a word of that first paragraph (and therefore not the second, either). Care to repeat it in English?

Herbacide on the grass roots?

It reads like it's supposed to be some sort of weird herbacide being doused on Ubuntu's grassroots efforts.

Note the vague nod to some sort of "real" Unbuntu developers (by which I suppose he/she/it is referring to the volunteers). This is meld with a backhanded reference to sort of hype and spamming (which is clearly intended to insinuate that Canonical or other people being paid by Mark are somehow doing something "wrong").

Sadly I understand each word of this posting --- but they are strung together nonsensically. I'm not sure there was one grammatically correct sentence ... and worse I'm not sure that any single sentence was reasonably comprehensible (an issue of semantics beyond just the syntactic deficiencies).

As to "Edgy" and Ubuntu in general: I have high hope for them. I've started spreading the meme at work (where they are wedded inextricably to RHEL and SLES) by testing recalcitrant systems ... particularly those with new chipsets ... under Ubuntu's LiveCDs and prefacing my technical responses and evaluations with: "This works under Ubuntu with no problems, but under ..."

I have high hopes that Automatix will be updated for Dapper very soon.
