The quotes are what make it for me.

Remembering all those stories is interesting, but just history. It's the selected quotes
that bring it alive again for me. THOSE are what I remember, and what bring the
memories flooding back.

Like the first poster, I hope we're all around for the tenth aniversary of the LWN annual
Linux timeline, in 2008, and still around in 2012, 10 years from now, for those timelines.

Talking about... Was there an LWN "Decade of Linux" timeline? Who would have thought,
back in the beginning, that Linux would be where it is today. Anyone care to predict what
might be on the 10 years of timelines timeline in 2008? Where will Linux be by then?

If not, it won't be for technical reasons. It will be for legal reasons.

Or, more accurately: there will be Linux in 10 years. But it may be contraband in the USA; the Land of the Free is not likely to tolearate free software for long, if members of Congress are honest and do what they have been paid well to do.
