IBM has been working with a small number of Universities around the world
to assist them with their interest in getting closer to the Linux
development community. IBM has provided 64-bit Linux on Power
Architecture machines to the Universities who in turn host them for the
Open Source development community at large. The Universities are
interested in creating a closer connection w/ the Open Source community
and contributing to it, and they feel this is a means of accomplishing
that. These servers are freely available with a simple registration for
use. They include POWER5-based servers and also an Apple Power Mac G5 for
those interested in doing Altivec or other IBM PPC970 processor work.
These are
shared environments, so users have to play nice, and abide by the
applicable University acceptable use policies. The University de
Campinas in Brazil
will be online shortly and additional Universities plan to roll this out
in
coming months. For those not aware, SourceForge
has also recently added a POWER5 system to their compile farm.

While people often confuse Austria and Australia, the correct URL for the ANU/CLUG location is: http://clug.anu.edu.au.

Regarding the URL... Indeed. Sincerest apologies. As stated, should have been "edu" not "eu".
