rPath to Present at Upcoming NOVALUG Monthly Meeting

rPath introducing rBuilder and Conary technology to Northern Virginia Linux
Users Group

RALEIGH, NC (January 31, 2006) - rPath, provider of the first platform for
creating and maintaining Linux software appliances, today announced the
company has been invited to present at an upcoming Northern Virginia Linux
Users Group (NOVALUG) meeting. Matt Wilson, rPath founding engineer and
former OS engineering lead for Red Hat, will represent rPath to discuss the
company's rBuilder and Conary technology to the group of Linux
professionals.

After recently closing on a $6.4 million round of venture funding, rPath
plans to use the capital to extend the industry reach and penetration of its
products in the rapidly growing Linux market. rPath plans to officially
launch its rBuilder product at the upcoming OSBC West show in February.
However, NOVALUG attendees will have the unique opportunity of previewing
the first platform available for combining applications and system software
into a software appliance.

NOVALUG attendees will also get a behind-the-scenes look at rPath's Conary
technology, a software packaging system that enables system images to be
assembled from multiple repositories distributed across the internet.
Conary is rPath's own unique creation, inspired from real-world problems and
intended to encourage both collaboration and responsible branching. The
main benefit of Conary is similar to Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) in
that a system can be quickly designed and delivered by combining existing
components in novel ways.

The upcoming NOVALUG meeting is scheduled to be held Saturday February 4th
at 10 am at the Washington Technology Park/CSC (formerly Dyncorp.) In
conjunction with the Washington, D.C.-based DCLUG, the organizations cover
the entire Washington, D.C. metropolitan and Northern Virginia areas. For
