When one looks back on Ingo's contributions to kernel performance/functionality, the mind boggles. He's the Richard Feynman of kernel hacking -- he hardly reads the literature, he just thinks and codes clearly, and he even has a bit of the showman in him.

Don't forget that Linux became only possible because 20 years of OS research was carefully studied, analyzed, discussed and thrown away.
