This sounds so odd I suspect insufficient context, or insufficent smileys. Could someone who was present clarify?

Nonetheless, Linus promised that, if Intel could get the top laptop manufacturers to support Linux (and only Linux), he would guarantee that nobody else could touch their particular driver.

Especially the "only linux" part. I have hard time believing Linus would say that (except tongue firmly in cheek). Was that part from the talk by the Intel guy, or an audience comment from the Man himself?
