I'll just focus on RH stuff, because that's what I'm familiar with. Why would someone provide binary builds for products that are out of support, such as 8.0, 9, FC1 and FC2? If they are doing that, they are simply asking for trouble. So, in RH world, it is really two current versions of Fedora and all Enterprise versions. Otherwise, you may as well count all Windows stuff, like I did.

Not true. Supported Linux distros, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, make certain guarantees in respect to binary compatibility. Not that I haven't seen NT machines broken by a service pack...
