And it never will be. Linux is a KERNEL.

This is a total non issue anyway if you simply choose to write your closed software for something like Redhat Enterprise Linux as companies like Oracle do. These distros are supported for 5 years and the APIs/ABIs remain static for all of that time.

So... Linux isn't a platform, GNU/Linux isn't a platform, RHEL and similar distros are platforms.
