The complaints are not about packaging.
For commercial software vendors, building the RPM is only a small part of the story. How extensively does Dag test each-and-every package he builds? Does he provide any warranties or support?
Testing, quality assurance, and formal release procedures are an essential part of the workflow in every software company. These steps must be done for every package that is provided, and they take many times the time and money than the packaging process itself (which, in all probability, is done automatically).
