I can tell you why the Win32 download of NX is larger than a typical Linux package download:
* NX clients always need an X server to display the remote session
* Linux typically have an X server installed and NX clients use that
* Windows typically dont have an X server installed so the NX Win32 client installtion package includes a complete X server for Windows
(The Win32 package currently uses the Cygwin XFree86 X server, and therefore also includes the cygwin.dll)
