That's really pessimistic. It sounds almost as if we shouldn't even be trying, because others have captured the market and that's the end of it. No more competition - ever. I certainly hope that isn't true.

I'm not sure where all this "Mac: the ultimate desktop" is coming from, but it may as well be an urban legend as far as I'm concerned. I have a Mac (or better - I purchased one for my daugther) and it's neither always dead simple nor does everyting just work. In fact, it has major dramas setting up printing to a Linux CUPS server (while running CUPS itself), programs occasionally crash, UI is not that it's cranked up to be (some design choices boggle the mind). Sure, eye candy is great, but the platform is not without faults.

No, just don't have any expectations other than making a product *you* prefer more than the other available options.
