Oh dear - this brings back memories. 40 years ago I implemented Kermit for an automated file transfer system in Greenland. Via dial-up modems and serial connections - not the fancy TCP/IP that I now understand C-Kermit supports.
It was used by the local "supermarkets" (ha!) in the *really* small villages to send in data about sales and things they needed to stock up on when the next ship arrived - some months later. "Mission critical" really.
