With K8s it's not that hard to do the transfer. In my experience, most of the complexity happens if you want to keep your service available during the migration. If you can afford ~8 hours of downtime, a lot of things become so much easier.

Other than that, it's always the case of complex systems growing implicit dependencies where you don't expect them.
