= Board Meeting Monday 2026-01-05 14:30 CET =
* Present: Jeff, Shawn, Ish, Simon Lees
* Excused: Gerald (still traveling, no good enough connectivity), Rachel
* Guests: Lubos Kocman, Patrik Fitzgerald, Doug DeMaio
* Minutes: Jeff
== Election Article (Lubos) ==
* Need to interview board members to describe what serving on the board
is like and why someone would want to join?
* Selected feedback will inform a more formal article
* https://etherpad.opensuse.org/p/osboard2025-elections-blo...
== Deploying Membership Tracking Software on Heroes Infra ==
* Lubos has been struggling to get it set up
* Broken salt stack on Leap 16?
* Implementing something new this late may cause delays in holding the
election
* The cleanups on the database can still proceed and be used to provide
information for the election anyway
== Technology Note ==
* SUSE has an internal Kubernetes-based platform that allows employees
to deploy internal applications quickly in a self-service fashion
* It would be nice to have something similar for openSUSE - but we also
recognize this takes a lot of effort to set up
== Non-Technical Recruiting ==
* Who will reach out to the marketing team to put together an (in)formal
recruiting program potentially ahead of the election? Current ticket is
https://code.opensuse.org/board/tickets/issue/81 members of the
marketing team expressed interest in this idea at oSC 25.
== Trademark Issues ==
* Reminder to follow up on action items from previous meeting
* openSUSE trademark guidelines don't mention cloud at all - anyone is
legally free to redistribute unmodified openSUSE images on the CSPs
* Don't want to discourage contributors from uploading images to new
cloud providers, but coordination is required where there is already an
official presence
