I took a look at this in a virtual machine. The COSMIC desktop looks interesting, but I think what was released is definitely a beta. I couldn't find a way to change UI font sizes, for example. And I have a legacy X11 application that doesn't get the window sizes it asks for (in floating-window mode) when it starts up, so I have to manually make the windows bigger to see the whole application.
But still, it's nice to see competition in the desktop space and I'm sure COSMIC will mature and improve.
