Parent article: The end of Clear Linux
It's worth noting that all of the repositories etc of Clear are still available and are under a F/OSS license, so nothing is stopping anyone from forking everything and picking up where Intel left off. They could probably even call it "Clearer Linux" or something like that.
Of course, it's going to cost a decent amount of money to cover the hosting bill (CI systems, release artefacts, and obscene amounts of bandwidth). And then there's the manpower; putting together a distro that tries to advance the bleeding edge is a lot of work... work that Intel paid for (nearly?) entirely. (All in, I wouldn't be surprised if Clear was costing Intel several million dollars a year)
Without a large (and ongoing) investment in pushing the bleeding edge, Is there much of a point in keeping Clear going? Personally, I doubt it.
