Do you mean that the login manager shouldn't report errors to the user at all, that it should just report a generic “login failed” error and that the user or administrator then should look in the system log(s) to see the details of said failure, or …? Neither of the two interpretations of your statement that I can think of right now sound like a great user experience compared to the login manager giving the user at least a bit more information regarding login failures.
