Firefox 140.0 released

Version 140.0 of the Firefox browser has been released. Changes include more control over vertical tabs, a dialog to add custom search engines, improvements to translation performance, and more.

Extended support release

For distros and organisations that prefer fewer, larger major-version updates (like Debian), I believe this is also the beginning of a new ESR branch superseding 128.

Debian firefox-esr seems to be sticking with the 128 branch for now.

Unloading tabs

Not noted here, nor prominently in their Release Notes is that they now allow one to manually unload tabs (also in bulk). I hope this spreads to the Chromium tree as well.

Extesions Icon removal

I know this is extremely minor in the big picture, but the ability to finally delete that useless Extensions icon from the toolbar - which Mozilla forced on us to begin with against user feedback - can finally be removed. We never asked for or wanted that forced icon in the first place, may it rest in the grave with the old forced Pocket integration code.
