It's not a misfeature for me. More and more HTTPS enforcement has been one of the best things for censorship circumvention/prevention that has happened in the last decade. Because of this, our government couldn't intercept plain HTTP anymore and was forced to issue a "safety certificate" (you may have heard of it) that you were "encouraged" to install on all your machines. It was quickly blacklisted by all browser vendors. One of the very few times in my life when I felt like someone big was finally standing up for the little guy (even if it wasn't really the case).

DNS-over-HTTPS falls into the same category.
