What is LWN.net?
LWN.net is dedicated to the task of being the best information source for
the Linux and free software communities. We have been publishing since
January, 1998, with a steadily growing readership over the entire time.
Our goal is to make LWN's content complete, concise, and informative with a
high standard for quality.
What does LWN.net offer?
- The front page is the entry point to LWN; there you
will find the latest news and access to the rest of the site.
- The LWN.net Weekly Edition is our exhaustive
coverage of the week's events in the free software community.
Specific sections cover headline news, security, kernel development,
Linux distributions, free software development, Linux in business, and
more. The Weekly Edition is the core of LWN.net.
- The Security Alerts and Vulnerabilities databases contain the
latest information on outstanding security issues and responses from
Linux distributors.
- The LWN Distribution List is the most
comprehensive database of Linux distributions available.
- The Penguin Gallery showcases the many aspects
of the Linux mascot.
Contacting LWN.net
The most effective means of contacting LWN is via email. The following
addresses should be used:
- For story submissions, questions, and general issues,
send mail to lwn@lwn.net. In most
cases, we request that you use this address rather than contacting
individual LWN authors directly - somebody is always watching the
lwn@lwn.net address. As a special case, Penguin Gallery
submissions should go to penguins@lwn.net.
- Press releases should go to pr@lwn.net. We are happy to publish your
press releases, but we do have a couple of requests: (1) releases
should be in plain text format only, we are unable to work with
releases in proprietary word processor formats; and (2) please
make it very clear if a release is to be embargoed until a specific
time.
- Letters to the editor, intended for publication, should go to
letters@lwn.net.
- Advertising inquiries are welcome; please send them to
sales@lwn.net.
When in doubt, the lwn@lwn.net address should be used.
