Yes, it's true. We're in the middle of a hellish CVS merge right now. I
hope the result won't be described as "mini-support" for mail/news :-) The
only thing I'm sure won't work is SSL with any mail/news protocol.
Otherwise we're trying to get it all merged.

As as been discussed at length, we won't be able to ship source for the
third-party DB we use now. We'll be shipping binaries for that DB, behind
an API you can use to put in another DB, if that's your thing. I'm sure the
DB abstractions will change/improve over time, as people try to put in
different DBs.
