Announcing the first release of Gax, a program for amateur astronomy.
What can it do?
Gax can create searchable databases of galaxy information that can then
be searched based on user selectable ranges for fields in the database.
The information contained in or derived from the database includes:
RA
Declination
Major/Minor Diameter
Position Angle
Magnitude
Surface Brightness
Constellation
Uranometria 2000 Map number
Local Transit Time
The cataloged names maintained include:
NGC IC UGC
MCG ESO PGC
Arp VV CGCG
Messier Markarian
The search criteria include:
Minimum and/or Maximum for
RA
Declination
Major/Minor Diameter
Magnitude
Surface Brightness
Transit Time
Select only
U2K map numbers
Constellations
Catalogs
Catalog Names
Other
include objects within specified distance of [RA,Dec]
exclude objects in specific constellation(s)
exclude objects in specific catalog(s)
Report formatting is also under complete user control providing the
ability to tailor the report output to your specific needs.
