From: Gus <gusl@cse.unsw.EDU.AU> To: lwn@eklektix.com Date: Fri, 3 Apr 1998 09:56:12 +1000 (EST) Subject: linux device drivers - new oreilly i got it about a week ago.. only read the first 4 chapters, but it seems to be pretty good.. _lots_ of typos, but other than that, its pretty comprehensive - concentrates on linux2.0, but tells you about inconsistancies with 1.2 and theres a big chapter on relevant modifications up to v2.1.43. covers char, block and net devices, how to respond to irq's, implementing mmaps, ioctls, /proc's, etc always tries to be architecture independant, etc all in all, very good - the typos aren't too bad, since they are pretty obvious, but the second edition should be excellent -- - Gus
