From: mdw@catbert.ebi.ac.uk (Mark Wooding) Subject: WANTED: Testers for kernel patch that allows opening sockets Date: Fri, 3 Apr 1998 12:26:23 GMT -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- I've made a patch against Linux 2.0.33 which causes `open' on a Unix-domain socket to do the same thing as `connect'ing normally does. The patch needs testing, which is where you lot come in. Please visit http://www.excessus.demon.co.uk/linux/#af_unix to pick up the patch. Apply it to your kernel, configure the hacking in, and see whether it works. If it does, let me know, so I can eventually send it off to the kernel maintainers, who can tick an item off the wishlist. If it doesn't, also let me know so that I can hack whatever bugs there are into submission. A version of the patch for 2.1 kernels will probably appear some time. If someone else wants to produce one, that'll save me the effort and I'll be extra happy.
