If you've used Chip Chapin's wonderful bible program, 'bible', you may be
interested in a patch I've made for it. His original is entitled the Biblical
Retrival System (BRS) 4.00. I decided to put the modifications under the title
BRS 4.00a (or bible4.00a). Here is a list of changes:

o Added limited signal catching (specifically, catching SIGPIPE when
writing to a pipe, catching SIGINT during listings of verses,
catching SIGTSTP and SIGCONT, and SIGSEGV for error reporting).
o Added the use of a pipe in the interactive mode.
o Added support for common abbreviations (old, torah, prophets, new,
        gospels, pauline, epistles) for ranges.
o Added the use of a NOT specifier (!) on word-searches.
o Added support for parenthesis in word-searches
example: love ?a (truth ?o hope)
o Modified range command, so if specifying only a book name as the end of a
range, all the book is included, as well as specifying only the book
name and chapter (all the chapter is included).
o Modified ?in command, so if specifying only one book, all the book is
        selected.
o Modified ?in command, so as to re-search for words if new range is not
        within old range bounds.
o Allow multiple word searches from one command. It is now possible to
        "??love ?a truth"
o Added automatic ?and'ing of words. For example, it is now possible to
search like this: ??love truth hope. This will become:
        love ?and ?truth ?and ?hope
o Added a ?print command (abbrev: ?p) which will print the string
        currently searched for.
o Added word completion with the tab key.
