Cybernet Launches Next-Generation Version 4.0 NetMAX™
Internet Appliance Software; Alliance with Toshiba Delivers Efficient
Turn-key Server

NetMAX Software on the Magnia SG20 Integrates Popular VPN, Security and
Sharing Products with New Toshiba Server

Ann Arbor, Michigan, September 16, 2002 — Cybernet Systems
Corporation today announced the next generation of its popular
Linux-based NetMAX Professional™ Suite and VPN Server Suite software,
providing consumers with significantly enhanced capabilities, flexibility and
ease-of-use at a price point unmatched by competitors in the industry. The
NetMAX Professional Suite 4.0 and VPN Server Suite 4.0 feature a faster, more
efficient and more secure network stack resulting from a move to the Linux
2.4 kernel series. Through a recent alliance with Toshiba’s Computer Systems
Group (CSG), the software suites will also be available pre-installed on
CSG's new Magnia SG20 Wireless Mobility Server, delivering an efficient
turn-key wireless server system.

The addition of stateful inspection allows for much simpler
and secure firewall configurations, elevating the NetMAX
products’ ability to secure residential and small enterprise
systems to industry state-of-the-art. The software suites are
matched to fulfill the needs of a broad customer base, including
Windows® 2000, Macintosh AppleShare, and Linux users. For
enterprise or hosting operators, the NetMAX Professional
supports easy administration of e-mail, hundreds of virtual
domains per server and eases management of other services
such as DNS, web caching and port forwarding/routing.

"NetMAX Server 4.0 offers substantial cost and efficiency
benefits to users across platforms," said Merrill Squiers,
NetMAX product manager at Cybernet Systems. "For Windows
2000 users, this includes access to email and Windows file
sharing, plus Linux security assurance for external network
interfaces, at no per client cost. For Macintosh AppleShare
users, NetMAX 4.0 offers features and usability on par with
Apple Xserve™ products, and a fully functional AppleShare
interface. But because it's PC platform-based, NetMAX Server
is one-half to one-third the cost of Xserve. Finally, to Linux and
Sun customers, the NetMAX products offer new, more complete
compatibility with Red Hat configurations and secure web and
VPN interfaces, again at a significantly lower cost."

The power of the NetMAX Internet appliance software is its ability
to simplify Linux. While highly acclaimed, Linux remains
notoriously difficult for the average computer user and small
enterprise to install and configure. The NetMAX Server
eliminates these problems by giving users understandable
interfaces to easily configure an inexpensive, rock-solid web
or VPN server. In addition:

ß NetMAX 4.0 no longer operates on a customized Linux kernel
and is able to support more (and newer) hardware than any
previous NetMAX release.
ß Administrators can now define "server groups" of machines
and apply firewall rules to the group, thus reducing clutter and
the likelihood of mistakes.
ß The number of proprietary changes to the underlying Linux
operating system in NetMAX 4.0 has been kept to a minimum,
allowing software packages that work on Red Hat 7.2 to also
work on the NetMAX Server with little or no modification.

NetMAX Professional Server and VPN Server Suite on the
Magnia SG20

CSG's Magnia SG20 is ideal for small and medium-sized
offices, mobile consultants, remote offices in large organizations
, home offices and other businesses looking for mobile
networking capability. About the size of a Toshiba notebook, the
Magnia SG20 can fit into an ordinary computer case and is
designed to interface with Toshiba's wireless-enabled
notebooks and PDAs. Bundled with NetMAX 4.0 software, the
Magnia SG20 will feature full NetMAX 4.0 capabilities, providing
customers with state-of-the-art connectivity and security (web,
FTP, VPN and firewalls) in a fully integrated, cost-effective
"network-in-a-box.”

"Bundling Cybernet's NetMAX 4.0 products with our Magnia
SG20 Server will empower a wider range of mobile workers
who need to get their network functions up and running quickly
and smoothly while on the road," said Bill Greenlund, Vice
President at Toshiba’s Computer Systems Group. "We are
excited about Cybernet's implementation, and believe the
Magnia SG20 complements the NetMAX software credo of
'simplifying Linux servers'."
