With the increasing number of issued software patents comes the increasing possibility of being sued for infringement. This affects all flavors of software, not just Linux.'"

Pretty interesting how the article omits mention of the Timeline patent infringement Lawyers Weigh In on Linux Patent Threat (eWeek)
lawsuit against Microsoft's SQL Server. As I recall, the suit was successful and Timeline
went after some Microsoft customers as well as Microsoft itself. So much for this article's
implication that somehow proprietary software automatically includes indemnification
against patent infringement lawsuits.
