Mozilla to implement xforms Posted Aug 11, 2004 19:11 UTC (Wed) by jeffg (guest, #20473) [Link] yeah! what's needed here is the addition of a "xnamespace" [wink](dtd w3c dom xsl tla ...m.o.u.s.e)
Mozilla to implement xforms Posted Aug 11, 2004 17:09 UTC (Wed) by QuisUtDeus (guest, #14854) [Link] Maybe the whole "web" thing is getting old, but doesn't it seem strange that an announcement by a web-centric group about a web-centric project related to a web-centric standards-group supported by web-friendly companies has no links to any of these entities on the web?
Mozilla to implement xforms Posted Aug 11, 2004 23:55 UTC (Wed) by Taffy (guest, #23947) [Link] Also the Mozilla link to the XForms project (http://www.mozilla.org/projectx/xforms) on thir project page (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/) is broken ... doesn't bode well ....

(overdue) Good News Posted Aug 11, 2004 17:26 UTC (Wed) by ccyoung (subscriber, #16340) [Link] I think this is very good news, esp for databasers such as myself. From my perspective, currently I spend too much time doing what the client ought do do - from a data perspective, HMTL4 is pretty stupid.
(Big question, of course, is how offensively MS will respond. Will they use their standard subversion of being almost compatible and then add proprietary extensions? My guess is they'll try to slow it down with patents, and then have "security upgrades" uninstall and/or break it.)
Also, I think corporations want this, and it will very quickly become a standard feature of the web's landscape.
(overdue) Good News Posted Aug 11, 2004 18:27 UTC (Wed) by jeremiah (guest, #1221) [Link] The have a competeing Idea in InfoPath and XDocs. People don't seem to be useing with them that much though. I don't really know if they are intended to comete with XForms, but XForms is a broad enough standard to compete with them. My company is looking at XForms and such as a way to implement "Smart Documents" for electronic court filing. Currently most documents, even Open Office" make it too dificult to glan data from out of the document. You always have to go some where else and type in your name value pairs. What we find appealing about xforms is the ability to give someone a form to fillout, then have that form transformed and rendered into PDF (court friendly format) using FOP.
