Seagate Technology and Linspire, Inc. have announced

What an absurd sentence. As if we didn't use Linux here. In my case I've been using Linux since kernel 1.0.9, well before PR types had even heard about it.

I think you've been fogged by the marketspeak. They didn't say they were bringing *Linux* to Latin America--they said they're bringing "Linspire Linux OS" to Latin America. Big difference.
And, (yawn), no big deal. As you said, there are plenty of people already happily using Linux in that region.
I must say though that I appreciate Seagate's willingness to do this. I like their products (I'm using a Barracuda to write this, in fact)--I just think they could have chosen a better partner. Oh well.
