Parent article: Library invests in Free Software (GNU-Friends)

I've been using Koha since 2000, shortly after it was released. I am a network administrator for a public school district and am using Koha in several elementary schools in my district. The library budgets in the elementary schools in my district are very small, and money spent on library automation software is money much better spent on books.

I have made several changes to Koha over the course of the last couple of years. Initially I added a web-based circulation module to augment the original telnet interface. The telnet interface was designed to make circulation faster for Horowhenua who had to connect to their main server over dialup lines. In my case, the server was always on the same lan as the circulation desk, so user interface was more important than speed.
