Based on Debian, good installer, good hardware detection, packages up to date.However ... neither as a registered Libranet user nor an LWN security advisory peruser have I ever seen any announcements of kernel vulnerabilities/fixes from them. The version number/patch state of the libranet kernels bears an unknown relation to the debian or vanilla kernels and updates and their corresponding vulnerabilities.

However, myself and many others noted the securityissues during the 2.8 beta cycle and added it to the top of the *must have* list. None of us have seen the new 3.0 that is in the works yet, but we all have high hopes that this (and other) security issues will be addressed with this release. In the mean time, I have a feeling that a lot of folks are going to be very pleasently surprised at how well Libranet installs and runs! I actually started buying the release after I tried the old 2.0 release. What a pleasent surprise to find myself in a situation where stuff just worked and I didn't have to spend hours using Google.
