Aduva Joins Open Source Development Labs
A leading provider of Linux management automation solutions brings expertise
to Lab working groups
BEAVERTON, Ore. - July 6, 2004 - The Open Source Development Labs (OSDL), a
global consortium dedicated to accelerating the adoption of Linux in the
enterprise, today announced that Aduva Inc., a leading provider of Linux
management automation solutions for distributed and mainframe-based
environments, has joined OSDL and will participate in the Lab's Desktop Linux
and Data Center Linux working groups.
Aduva, a privately-held system management software company with financial
backing from BMC Software, IBM, and Intel, develops technology that helps
enterprises reduce the time and expertise required to build, deploy and
maintain stable, compliant, secure and reliable Linux software environments.
"As Linux gains acceptance in corporations, managers need help running
increasingly complex Linux deployments that scale up and out," said Zev
Laderman, chairman and CEO of Aduva. "Our participation in OSDL and its
working groups will help us advance Linux in the enterprise and give us
access to a forum where customers and vendors can work together with the
Linux development community on shared challenges."
Linux growth on the server has exploded, according to market research
analysts. In its most recent report (May 28, 2004), IDC said Linux server
revenues grew almost 60 percent in the first quarter of 2004 compared to the
same period in 2003. Unit shipments of Linux jumped 46 percent over the same
period, the seventh consecutive quarter of double digit growth, according to
IDC.
"For Linux to accelerate into broader enterprise adoption, customers will
require tools for managing mixed IT environments of Linux, Windows, Unix and
mainframes," said Stuart Cohen, CEO of OSDL. "We're pleased to have Aduva
join as our newest member and we look forward to tapping their expertise in
management automation for our Data Center Linux and Desktop Linux working
groups."
