In kmail 1.6 in the mail filter setup options, you can choose as an "filter action" to pipe the message through an external program. Personally I use this to pipe all my messagages through bogofilter to do spam handling. This type of thing will be much easier to setup in kmail to be released with kde 3.3. In addition, the upcoming kmail will have support for writing html messages.
