Project/Open V2.0 Release

We are proud to announce Project/Open V2.0 for immediate release
(http://www.project-open.org/ -> Download).
Project/Open is an open-source web-based "project resource planning"
system (Project-ERP) with project rooms and tools for managing
clients, invoices, time and cost. It is designed for companies in
the consulting, advertizing and translation sectors.

Project/Open is based on the OpenACS (http://openacs.org/) community
system and runs on any recent Linux or Solaris system. It currently
requires Oracle 8.1.7, but a port to PostgreSQL is planned for the
end of this year.

OpenACS platform is the successor of the ArsDigita ACS system.
OpenACS and Project/Open are based on the AOLServer web- and
application server, the TCL scripting language and a relatively
simple component-architecture. This combination allows for solid
and high-performance web applications (www.aol.com, www.greenpeace.org,
www.photo.net, ...) while keeping the learning time low (less then
a week for an experienced web developer).

Our dream is to establish open-source software in the ERP market
as serious competition to the commercial players.
However, ERP software is usually boring stuff, so that we have to
count on small IT companies as members of an open-source-community,
instead of individual developers. This is the reason why we allow
the creation of proprietary modules.
