Parent article: The Grumpy Editor's guide to mail clients: introduction

For console/terminal mail clients I still like pine. It's really a shame that they have the whole license thing that makes it incompatable with some distros. I've tried mutt and it's an awsome mail app but I prefer the simplicity of pine. I can do all kinds of things in pine but all I really do is read email. All the commands you need are always on the screen and are fairly nmemonic and easy to remember. I don't have the two weeks to dedicate to learning how mutt does it's thing.

With 'set help=yes', which is the default, Mutt shows a help line on the screen. It's context sensitive, so you can try following it. :)
