I distinctly remember the SuSE rep at the Desktop Linux conference last summer in Tyngsboro saying that all releases of SuSE would be supported for *five* years.

Was that before they were bought by Novell? If it was... it looks like Novell is looking at the costs of updates/fixes and realizing that its more expensive for people who dont pay.

I was always under the impression that support was 2 years on the 'domestic' products and 5 on SLES.

That is probably a misunderstanding. 5 years for the (expensive) business-line (SuSE Linux Enterprise Server, etc), and 2 years for the (cheap) "consumers" line. They stick to this scheme pretty well.
