Don't be punching your monitor, now. Maybe next time it will implode, causing glass cuts, burns, electrical shocks, etc, with the possibility of starting a fire, and, of course, necessitating a trip to your local computer store for a new monitor. :P

Anyway, does anyone know what exactly SCTP is?

stream control transmission protocol. see sctp.org, and especially the RFCs linked from there. it's like UDP, but reliable; or, TCP, but packet oriented.
